ON-LINE : EIGHT PRECEPTS OBSERVANCE, 2020

During Saga DawaDüchen, all Dharma practice will accumulate unaccountable amount of merits.
In order to benefit sentient beings, RigzinChenpo Rinpoche will hold the Eight Precepts practice on live stream.

Words from Buddha Shakyamuni,

「The merits of practicing generosity diligently for hundred centuries is far less than thoseaccumulated in one day of upholding the Eight Precepts.」

Keeping these precepts will protect the body, speech and mind of the practitioners from misconducts and negative karma.

[Eight Precepts and their consequences]

1 Panatipataveramanisikkhapadamsamadiyami
Upholding the precept to refrain from Killing ; Accomplish Long Life without Illness.

2 Adinnadanaveramanisikkhapadamsamadiyami
Upholding the precept to refrain from Stealing ; Accomplish Sufficiency of Food and Cloth.

3 Abrahmacariyaveramanisikkhapadamsamadiyami
Upholding the precept to refrain from Sexual Activity; Accomplish a Perfect Body.
4 Musavadaveramanisikkhapadamsamadiyami
Upholding the precept to refrain from Lying ; Can’t be Deceived.
5 Suramerayamajjapamadatthanaveramanisikkhapadamsamadiyami
Upholding the precept to refrain from Taking Alcohol or Intoxicating Drugs; Keep a Clear Mind
6 Uccasayana-mahasayanaveramanisikkhapadamsamadiyami
Upholding the precept to refrain from Lying on an Elevated or Luxurious Bed;
Gain Love and Respect from People.
7 Vikalabhojanaveramanisikkhapadamsamadiyami
Upholding the precept to refrain from Eating at the Wrong Time (after midday);
IncreaseWealth and Prevent from Poverty.

8 Nacca-gita-vadita-visukkadassana mala-gandha-vilepana-dharana-mandanavibhusanathanaveramanisikkhapadamsamadiyami
Upholding the precept to refrain from Dancing, Singing, Music, Wearing Garlands,
Using Perfumes And Cosmetics; Accomplish the Perfect Body of Buddha.

The 2-day fasting retreat of Eight Precepts (“Nyungne” in Tibetan) is a distinctive Dharma approach in Tibetan Buddhism.

Nyu』 means fasting in Tibetan,
Ngne』 means remain the state, and
NyuNgne』 means remain the fasting state.
NyuNgne」is a quick approach to purify obscurations.

By undertaking 「NyuNgne」, participants will experience sufferings of hunger and thirst, and
therefore generate compassion and loving kindness.

Unlike the Theravada and Mahayana tradition where the fasting retreat is complete in 24 hours,
the Tibetan tradition takes 2 days:
